Most businesses evaluating accounting software want a transparent picture of what they will be spending in year one and every year after, before they commit. TallyPrime's pricing is built to give exactly that - a fixed licence fee, an optional renewal, and add-ons that are priced individually so a business only pays for what it uses.
Here is a complete picture of the total cost of ownership when you purchase TallyPrime, including the licence fee, add-ons, and plugins.
1. The licence: a one-time cost, or a flexible rental
TallyPrime is available either as a lifetime licence or as a rental subscription — the choice is the business's to make.
Perpetual (lifetime) licence:
- TallyPrime Silver (single user, one computer): ₹22,500 + 18% GST, one-time. Includes 1 year of TSS.
- TallyPrime Gold (unlimited users on a local network): ₹67,500 + 18% GST, one-time. Includes 1 year of TSS.
Rental, for businesses that prefer not to pay upfront:
- Silver: ₹750/month, or ₹2,138 for 3 months, or ₹8,100 for 12 months with TSS included in the rental price.
- Gold: ₹2,250/month, or ₹6,413 for 3 months, or ₹24,300 for 12 months with TSS included.
Both Silver and Gold plans offer the same features for accounting, GST compliance, e-invoicing, e-way bills, inventory, banking, payroll, multi-company management, and reporting.
Gold's higher price reflects concurrent multi-user access on a network, not extra features withheld from Silver.
Rental customers can switch to a lifetime licence at any time, and Tally Solutions runs a standing price benefit for this move.
Upgrading between plans is also straightforward. For example, moving from a lifetime Silver to a lifetime Gold licence costs the price difference, and existing company data carries over without disruption.
2. TSS
Tally Software Services (TSS) is the subscription that keeps a TallyPrime installation current. The first year is included with any new licence or rental plan.
1-year renewal:
- Silver: ₹4,500 + GST/year (2-year option: ₹8,100 + GST)
- Gold: ₹13,500 + GST/year (2-year option: ₹24,300 + GST)
- Auditor Edition: ₹6,750 + GST/year (2-year option: ₹12,150 + GST)
What TSS includes: free upgrades to every major TallyPrime release, connected services for GST, banking, and WhatsApp, anytime-anywhere access to reports, and online data sync and consolidation.
If TSS lapses, TallyPrime keeps working and existing data stays fully accessible. So, a business only stops receiving new statutory updates and connected features until it renews the TSS subscription
3. TallyPrime Cloud Access
TallyPrime Cloud Access is an optional add-on that offers cloud accessibility. It lets a business run TallyPrime itself from anywhere, on any device, and from any location. It sits on top of an existing TallyPrime licence and cannot be purchased on its own.
Pricing for TallyPrime Cloud Access:
- Personal (1 user): ₹600 + GST
- Regular (2 users): ₹600 + GST
- Regular Plus (4 users): ₹450 + GST
- Regular Pro (8 users): ₹450 + GST
- Performance (12 users): ₹450 + GST
- Performance Plus (12 users): ₹450 + GST
For larger deployments (TallyPrime Server Pack, 8 to 128 users): ₹750 + GST
The plans are available as a 3, 6 & 12 months subscription period. Access is unlimited, with no separate metering on how much a business uses it within its plan.
4. Plug-ins and add-ons: pay only for what you add
Beyond the licence, TSS, and Cloud Access, TallyPrime offers a set of individually priced or individually enabled plug-ins:
- TallyPrime with WhatsApp: used for instant communication, sharing invoices, orders, and reports directly over Whatsapp. Users get ready-to-use templates and a dedicated inbox. The renewal subscription is priced at ₹1,300/year + GST, with a separate prepaid wallet (from ₹675 + GST) for ongoing messaging credits
- TallyDrive (cloud backup): a baseline amount of backup storage is included with an active TSS subscription. For additional storage, users can select from 10GB to 200GB for ₹100 per month + GST for 10 GB
- Docs by Ira: an AI-based tool that allows users to scan invoices from mobile and upload them directly to TallyPrime. It converts invoices, bills, and receipts into TallyPrime entries. It is priced at ₹ 200 + GST for a pack of 100 pages
Other Add-ons:
- Bharat Connect: manages invoices, payments, and reconciliations within TallyPrime. Bharat Connect is available for all users using TallyPrime 6.0 and above versions with a TSS subscription.
- Amazon Data Import: imports Amazon sales, refund, and settlement reports directly into TallyPrime to automatically record transactions. This feature is compatible with TallyPrime Release 7.1 and above and requires an active TSS subscription
- New Invoice Templates & Personalisation: lets a business create and personalise its own invoice formats, with multiple logos, watermark, signatures, header and footer images, and more, within TallyPrime. To access this feature, you must upgrade to TallyPrime 7.1 and have an active TSS subscription
Because each of these is named and priced (or enabled) individually, a business adopts only the capabilities relevant to how it operates. A single-location retailer may not use Amazon report automation and can avoid paying for it. An e-commerce seller can add exactly that plug-in without paying for WhatsApp messaging credits it won't use.
What TallyPrime never charges for
Regardless of the plan or add-ons chosen, TallyPrime does not charge:
- Per-transaction fees — whether a business records ten invoices a day or ten thousand, the licence and TSS cost stay the same.
- Data storage fees on the core installation — company data stored locally, as most TallyPrime installations are, carries no storage tier or upgrade prompt as records accumulate. (Cloud-hosted storage, is a separately priced layer only for businesses that choose Cloud Access or TallyDrive.)
- Escalating per-seat pricing for growth within a plan — Gold's licence already covers unlimited concurrent users on a local network at one fixed price; adding users within that setup doesn't lead to an additional cost.
Many accounting and business-management tools in the market—particularly cloud-native, subscription-billed ones—charge along one or more of these dimensions. These include transaction-volume tiers that push a growing business into a costlier plan or storage limits that trigger upgrade prompts as historical data builds up. TallyPrime's core licence and TSS model sidesteps both. Where TallyPrime charges per user (Cloud Access) or per feature (plug-ins), the prices are transparent, rather than folded into a base fee that quietly increases later.
Partner support
TallyPrime is sold through a network of authorised Tally Partners across India, and this shapes the cost picture in a business's favour:
- Free expert assistance and installation support are available as part of the purchase.
- Ongoing local support — troubleshooting, guidance on new releases, help during a renewal or upgrade — is available through the same partner relationship, typically in the same city or region.
Real-world scenarios
Scenario A
A single-location retailer, one user, working locally (no cloud access needed):
- Year 1: Silver lifetime licence ₹22,500 + GST, 1-year TSS included = ₹26,550 total (with GST)
- Year 2 onward: TSS renewal only = ₹5,310/year (with GST)
- No per-transaction cost regardless of billing volume.
Scenario B
A growing distributor, five users, wants two of them working remotely and WhatsApp invoice sharing:
- Year 1: Gold lifetime licence ₹67,500 + GST with Gold TSS included in year 1 + Cloud Access for 2 users for ₹600 + GST depending on tier chosen + WhatsApp subscription for ₹1,300 + GST
- Year 2 onward: Gold TSS renewal ₹13,500 + GST (₹15,930) + ongoing Cloud Access subscription for the 2 remote users + WhatsApp renewal ₹1,300 + GST + wallet top-ups as needed
In both cases, every line item is named and published before purchase. So, a business can build its own year-one and year-two cost rather than discovering a new fee after signing on.
The takeaway
TallyPrime's pricing is built around one idea: a business should pay for the capability it needs, see exactly what that costs, and not be surprised by hidden fees. Every layer of cost, from the base licence to the optional add-ons, is itemised upfront, so a business can build its own accurate year-one and year-two costs before it commits to the software.
